St. Mary's Academy Mission Statement
St. Mary's Academy believes that, as a Catholic, independent school in the Loretto tradition, its mission in the community which it serves is:
To create cooperatively the environment which lays the foundation for life-long learning:
by designing curricular patterns which can foster creativity, imagination, and academic excellence;
by advancing the students' appreciation of truth, goodness, and beauty;
by educating students to be agents of change and to analyze the changing character of the world in the light of their personal values and in the face of an open and challenging future;
by encouraging within students a free and responsible growth of the intellectual, spiritual, cultural, psychological, social, and physical dimensions of their lives;
by assisting students to know and to value themselves, to be appreciative of all persons, young and old, to reach out in service to others and to recognize and welcome diversity as a positive force within their future world;
by modeling through example, atmosphere, and instruction, the religious values which foster mature moral judgment;
by providing the tools whereby students can become self-activated, life-long learners and listeners;
by achieving within its student body a diversity characteristic of the larger population.
