Loretto School Values

In 1998, administrators from Loretto-sponsored schools and members of the Loretto Community administrative staff meet to discuss the deeply-held values of Loretto that are also cherished values in these schools.  The statement of Loretto School Values ties the everyday life of St. Mary’s Academy to the life of Loretto in a special way, helping students develop values for the present and for their future life as adults in a global society.

Loretto School Values

Loretto encourages an approach to all of life that promotes mutuality, collaboration, and compassion and rejects relationships based on dominance or submission.  We embrace the following values:

Faith
Experiencing the enduring love of God, we build hope, foster community, and act in charity and service.

Community
We strive to build interdependent relationships, which are affirming, inclusive, empowering, and compassionate.

 Justice
We promote change in systems and in relationships that are oppressive. We work to create systems in which people, especially women, are treated fairly and impartially.

 Respect
We are open to differences and believe in the potential of each person.We promote the dignity of each person and protect the sacredness of all creation.
