• St. Mary's Academy was founded in 1864 by the Sisters of Loretto.

• St. Mary's Academy granted the first high school diploma in the Colorado Territory in 1875.

• St. Mary's Academy has three times been honored by the U.S. Department of Education School of Excellence/Blue Ribbon School.

• SMA has had seven National Merit Finalists in the past eight years.

• SMA's mock trial team won the Colorado state championship in 2006-2007.

• In 2006-2007, two athletes signed National Letters of Intent to play on collegiate sports team.  

• SMA's swimming and diving team has won eight consecutive league championships.

• Since 2005-06, an SMA swimmer holds the state record for 100-yd. breaststroke.

• Seven time in 15 years, SMA teams advanced to the Global Finals of Destination ImagiNation.

• St. Mary’s Academy is  accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools and the Association of Colorado Independent Schools.
