Loretto Jubilee 2012

The year 2012 is the 200th anniversary of the Sisters of Loretto!   In 1812 three courageous women followed God’s call to begin a religious community dedicated to prayer, mission and community life that reflected their experience on the American frontier.

They started a school where there had been none.  They saw a need and responded, and that simple act evolved into works of education, justice and peace that have continued today through the lives in Loretto Sisters and Co-members across the globe.

Anniversary /jubilee events
will take place in Denver and across the country.  In Denver, cheer Loretto in the St. Patrick’s Day parade, enjoy Loretto in Colorado exhibit at the Denver Public Library, attend a gala celebration, and more.  Read about all the celebrations across the country.

At SMA, students and teachers continue to be immersed in Loretto history and mission. Sisters and Co-members are visiting in person and on Skype to share their expertise in many areas, and members are being profiled at High School assemblies.

Join SMA in celebrating Loretto's 200th anniversary!

What is the sum of 5 and 1?

"The same Spirit who inspired and guided our founders gathers us in community today.  ...Their courage, concern and energy, nourished by the gospel and communal love, are with us as a lasting endowment of hope."
