08.25.10 - They’re Here
At last our halls are filled with children smiling, the noise on campus is happy and chatty and the activity level is high. Our students returned today ready for another year at SMA. How lucky we all are to spend another year together at the Premier Academy of the West.
I spent some time this morning looking at our school calendar. Wow! We are starting right up. The Middle School will begin their trips to Diamond Tail with the 7th grade girls heading up there on Monday. I am looking forward to joining them and sharing some great times hiking and camping. My friends back East find it amazing that I own a sleeping bag let alone sleep outside in a sleeping bag!
We are looking forward to seeing the ninth grade parents August 26 as they get together for dinner and conversation about being a part of the St. Mary's Academy community and being in the first year of high school.
The Lower School Back to School Night is coming up fast: September 2. But of course we will have assembly this Friday in Lower School. I have heard the teachers humming a certain tune ... hmmm.. could there be a welcome back song? If you haven't visited the Lower School -- be sure to stop by. The hallways look terrific! We installed solar tubes in the ceilings and we painted the lockers, among other projects. It's a great bright hallway for our great bright students!
