St. Mary’s Academy’s elementary school, referred to as the Lower School, is a happy place where learning abounds. Children grow in a community where caring teachers nurture and challenge them academically, physically and spiritually as they develop a sense of themselves and their place in the world. We educate children from kindergarten through fifth grade. The kindergartners come from many pre-school programs throughout metro Denver.
Our small class sizes allow for teachers to know each student as an individual — how they learn best and what interests them. An integrated curriculum connects subject matter and analytical problem-solving skills with the real world, engaging students’ hearts and minds in meaningful learning. Each day is an invigorating blend of grade-level instruction, individual work, small-group projects and activities in core academic subjects, as well as Spanish, music, drama, art, physical education, and religion and values.
With an emphasis on the whole child, our Lower School offers many experiences in addition to the academic curriculum for students to discover new interests and understand the world around them. Students engage in myriad activities, including playing in the band, learning a sport or reading to the elderly in a seniors’ home. Whatever the endeavor, our Lower School develops the academic skills and personal values to become intelligent, kind, and caring persons throughout life.
St. Mary's Academy is accredited by the Association of Colorado Independent Schools (ACIS).
