SMA Alumna speaks about film project

Kathy M’Closkey ’61 visited the high school to introduce the documentary Weaving Worlds and to share her experience as the film research director. As an adjunct associate professor in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at the University of Windsor, Ontario and author of “Swept Under the Rug: A Hidden History of Navajo Weaving”, Dr. M’Closkey revealed deep insights into the lives, history and culture of these native artisans.
“WEAVING WORLDS highlights the untold stories of the personalities and characters involved in the making and selling of Navajo rugs. The film presents a compelling and intimate portrait of economic and cultural survival through the art of weaving in the face of increased globalization.”
