Steve Mayfield Awarded the Metro League Distinguished Service Award

Middle School science teacher Steve Mayfield has been awarded the Metro League Distinguished Service Award.

The award, which is presented annually, is given to an individual who has dedicated significant time and energy to an athletic department of a Metro League school.  Steve was honored with the award for his involvement in SMA athletics as a coach, scorekeeper and timekeeper for over 25 years.

Athletic Director Marcene Murphy says of Steve, “He is a dedicated member of the SMA community.  The coaches, officials, athletic staff and players know that when Steve is working at the score table there is nothing to worry about.  We greatly appreciate Steve’s willingness to help every season, rain or shine!”
