Two SMA Divers: State Champion and Fourth Place in State
SMA divers Alexa finished in first place and Cat finished fourth at the Colorado State 4A Dive Championships!
Ninth grader Alexa (right in photo) finished in first place with a total 11 dive score of 440.5. Alexa's top scoring dive was her Inward 1 and 1/2 somersault pike, a 48 point dive.
Tenth grader Cat (left in photo) earned a 4th place finish at the State Meet with her personal best 11 dive score of 385.1. Cat scored her best on a forward 2 and 1/2 somersaults which earned her 46.8 points.
Alexa is the third diver in SMA history to become a State Diving Champion. Michele Loiseau '80 adn Julie May '84 are previous state champs. Today Julie May is the High School Counselor at SMA. SMA teacher Hope Stafford is head coach and Kendra Kelly '02 is assistant coach.
The state dive championships took place Feb. 12 at Mount View High School in Loveland.
